Something bad happened with my Mandriva partition on my Linux computer. It caused me troubles and after a few reboots, the kernel refused to mount it. I tried mounting it with Knoppix, but failed. Then I made use of my Kubuntu partition (on the same hard-disk as the Mandriva one). I had to compile an up-to-date vanilla kernel from kernel.org, which took a long time, because I wanted to keep the compilation as quick as possible, and so missed a few essential options. (Like my mother says: "The Lazy Man Works Twice.").

However now I have a working kernel configuration and I can get help from the kernel developers. In any case, I discovered that running ustat() on the partition (using a smallish C program) or even xfs_repair before mounting the partition does not cause the process to hang. So right now, I'm running xfs_repair.

Wish me luck! I'll keep you updated. This computer problem has completely neutralised me for this day. I had plenty of things to do, and was just resuming work on Test::Run, and also had a top-secret presentation to prepare for the Telux Regular presentations, lots of E-mail tha was sent today to handle, etc.

Oh well.
